Can I fit 125mm ducting on my Robinhood rangehood outlet which is 150mm wide with a reducer?
Written by AdministratorThe simple answer here is no. If your rangehood is designed with a 150mm outlet then you need to use ducting of 150mm or larger. If you reduce the size of the ducting for this unit, then your rangehood will tend to "scream" as the air flow is being restricted due to the reduction in the size of the ducting.
How far above my cooktop should my rangehood be installed?
Written by AdministratorFor the most efficient use of the rangehood, it should not be installed any lower than 600mm over electric cooktops (650mm over gas cooktops) and no more than 800mm above any cooktop.
How should I clean the filters in my rangehood?
Written by AdministratorThe aluminium filters that come with your rangehood can be easily cleaned by washing in warm soapy water (leave to soak for a little while if they are particularly dirty or use a mild degreaser such as a fabric stain remover - spray it on, let it soak and then wash off in the water). These should be cleaned on a regular basis.
Charcoal filters can't be cleaned. When necessary you will need to buy new charcoal filters and replace them. Depending on your cooking styles and usage this should be every 6-12 months.

Why is my rangehood noisy?
Written by AdministratorNoisy rangehoods are normally the result of the ducting outlet being restricted - normally by incorrect installation or the wrong type of ducting. To reduce the noise, ensure that your ducting is the right size for the outlet on top of the rangehood. If you haven't ducted your unit, ensure that the procedures for recirculation have been followed (ie either removal of the recirculation strip on some models or installation of a recirculating kit on others). N.B. Incorrect installation of ducting or lack of recirculation is not covered under warranty.
Why use a rangehood?
Written by AdministratorA rangehood is designed to remove steam, grease and smells from a kitchen. Annually, an average of 4.5 litres of oil and grease settles on walls and ceilings if a rangehood is not used. These deposits condense and cause discolouration and dulling of paint work.
