Ducting VS Recirculating - which is better?
Written by AdministratorDucting is the preferred option for taking the air/grease out of the kitchen.
Advantage - Ducting is the most efficient removal of all steam, grease & smells and is a one-off cost.
Disadvantage - Ducting can be difficult to install sometimes and the components are also added costs that are not often considered.
Recirculating is preferred when ducting is not an option.
Advantage - Recirculation is suitable for apartments and situations where ducting outside is impossible.
Disadvantage - Recirculation is noisier and air flows back into the room. It can reduce the efficiency of the rangehood by up to 25%. Charcoal filters for recirculating must be replaced regularly (approx every 6-12 months) and are an ongoing cost.
Why should I duct my rangehood?
Written by AdministratorDucting your rangehood is the most efficient way to remove the odours and grease from your kitchen whilst cooking. In some cases the only option to use is recirculating - however, whilst also effective this will blow the odours and grease back into your kitchen.
Just remember when ducting, to duct to the outside of your house not into your roof cavity. This way the grease, steam and odours are sent outside and evaporated into the atmosphere. If you duct only into your roof cavity the grease, steam and odours will settle in your roof cavity resulting in a potential fire and pest hazard.
